I have been wagering poker now for about five years, I’ve wagered cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head casino game. I used to always win, whatever game we were betting and although I liked to call it skill, it was very difficult to justify thinking about the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was pleased to accept I was having a protracted run of good fortune.

Then came Poker, or far more importantly Texas hold em Poker, made popular by a bunch of Texas card players in the 60’s and since developed into one of the biggest card phenomena ever experienced. Poker is absolutely the new black, it can be uber awesome with quite a few of the world’s top celebs racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick via the TV channels nowadays and you’ll be able to not escape from poker, and of course there is the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each single player.

So with all of this new found recognition, with so quite a few Tv shows devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are persons going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I really should not obtain so worked up about this, after all the much more men and women who wrestle with the subtle techniques and methods necessary for succeeding regularly at Hold em, the much better it’s for everyone else, correct? I mean, if they can not be bothered to read all of the obtainable info about why position is so essential, why must we bother? We must just be glad there is one more fish at the table!

It is true, we should not encourage inactivity with guidance and assist. On the other hand, I liken this to a welcoming game of football. Granted the levels are not so good, but when you see a gambler struggling, you help them, offer them a few advice, ultimately showing them a way to enjoy, love and be grateful for the casino game as much as you. I’m calling on all home players to do the same thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite got a handle on the subtleties of betting position. Support them to grow their respect for the game. Certainly, do not attempt to try this one in your neighborhood betting house, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you instructing their supper how to swim!
