Online poker has become globally acclaimed as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to 21 than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the dealer rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the croupier declares "No more bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers attain 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the dealer’s initial card, you must in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call wager’s amount is on same level to your original wager, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your ante goes directly to the casino. After the bet comes the face off. If the casino doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, including a sum on par with the ante. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The bank pays money equal to your initial bet and controlled odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
