Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
