Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in money games?
