Do you ever have that itch? The itch to bet, to head to the closest gambling house, to discover a good stakes casino game of Texas hold em, to sit at a Pontoon table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I also love to watch men and women gamble. No 2 poker faces seem similar. When I bet I like to believe I put on a poker face that’s impenetrable. Except I know I’ve certain gestures. For one, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Pontoon. And then I smoke. But I smoke regardless of whether I am succeeding or losing, regardless of whether I’ve a good hand or bad.

I once wagered inside a weekly poker game. The casino game was generally five card draw. There was a player who bet with us each week who often wore a hat. When he was given a great hand, subconsciously, he would start touching and betting with his hat. Needless to say, he never won.

I use to examine him for hours on end. I would attempt to see if I could spot his tell. Picking fuzz off his jacket- did this imply he was bluffing? Stacking his chips in a short pile – did this mean he had a excellent hand?

Many years later I bumped into him within a bar in Philly and we had a beverage. I asked him if he had been aware of all those motions he made or if they were unconscious. He informed me that every single little thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is always checking out everybody else’s poker face. They are attempting to notice the the tell.

So his system was to give them lots to consider about. His thinking was if they were thinking about him selecting a piece of lint off his coat and what it meant they positive weren’t thinking about their cards.
