Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
