Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve last table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
