Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
